Our Story
I first started to learn about bodywork when my personal horse was showing signs of discomfort. I noticed she wasn't performing like she used to and simply didn't feel great. Even though she was up there in age, I still wanted her to feel her absolute best. If I wanted her to be an athlete, then she needed to be treated like one. Therefore, if I wanted her to feel and perform to the best of her ability, then she needed to be treated her best with all the extra care I could give her. Once she was properly balanced, she was a totally different horse!
When I bought her, she was not in the best condition to be able to do her job. She previously had a month off, which caused her to lose some weight and muscle. Consequently, she wasn’t performing like she was previously, and overall just didn’t feel very comfortable with the work I wanted her to be able to do. Over the first year, she had lots of slow changes. It started with a new barn where she had to adjust to a new environment. With that came nutritional changes. Through these nutritional changes, she was able to gain more weight and get proper nutrients to help her gain muscle. She also had a big riding adjustment. She was worked less but was still able to gain a lot of muscle as she was doing a variety of different work.
Once she was adjusted to her new home, I got the chiropractor out. The chiropractor did wonders for her body; however, she was out in quite a few places, on top of having some bites from her “friends,” so she was quite uncomfortable during the process. Chiropractic worked well for her; however, she needed something more and different. So, I scheduled her a bodywork session. She LOVED it! She was much more comfortable during the process and had similar results under saddle! It became a great addition to her care. For her specifically, she thrived in the field and during work when she got bodywork consistently!
Through the process of getting her muscled up again—proper nutrition, chiropractic, transitioning to being barefoot, ample turnout, and discovering bodywork—she became a totally different horse. I loved this process and wanted to be able to help other horses like her. My ultimate goal is to open a full-service clinic with an in-house vet, farrier, nutritionist, and bodyworker. A one-stop facility for all of your horse's needs, where equine professionals work to create balanced horses together.
